Fort Payne video for the mills, Gault Avenue, and the mountain

Fort Payne businesses tend to sit on one of two sides. In town, the sock and hosiery mills, the plants near I-59, and the shops and restaurants on Gault Avenue need hiring video, product video, and short clips that show who they are. Up on Lookout Mountain, cabin rentals, outfitters, and wedding venues are selling a view, and they need footage that gets someone to book the weekend.

For a Fort Payne mill, the best footage is the real process: knitting machines running, socks coming off the line, people folding and boxing orders. A hiring video filmed on the mill floor tells an applicant what the job looks like better than any posting. If you sell your own brand online, the same shoot day can produce product and "how it's made" clips for your store and social media.

Filming on the mountain

Shoots on the Fort Payne side of Lookout Mountain come down to light and access. I plan them for early morning or late afternoon along the brow, at DeSoto State Park, or near Little River Canyon, and sort out any park filming permits ahead of time. Drones are not allowed to take off inside the national preserve, so aerial shots get planned from private land or a venue with the owner's permission, flown by Austin, an FAA Part 107 Certified Remote Pilot.

Whoever you are filming, the camera that shows up at a Fort Payne mill or a cabin on the brow comes from Rome, Georgia, where HindLight is based. There is no local office, and none is needed. On a free video call I work out what you need, where to film, and whether a mill shoot and a mountain shoot can share one trip over. The drive is covered in the estimate. Once the footage is home, the cut gets built in Rome and you review it before anything is final.

FAQ // Common Questions

Video questions from Fort Payne

Can you film a sock mill while the knitting machines are running?

Yes, and running machines are usually what makes the footage work. I plan around your production schedule, stay clear of moving equipment, and capture the knitting, finishing, and packing steps that show how your product is made. The same knitting-room clips can serve hiring, sales, and your online store.

Can you fly a drone over Little River Canyon?

Not from inside the national preserve, where the National Park Service does not allow drones to take off or land. I can plan aerial shots from private land along Lookout Mountain with the owner's permission, flown by an FAA Part 107 Certified Remote Pilot, and film the canyon itself from the ground.

We rent cabins on the mountain. What should our video show?

The view, the space, and what a weekend there feels like. I film the property in the best light of the day, add aerials where they are allowed, and cut a main video for your website plus short clips for booking sites and social media. The shot list, the time of day, and where a drone is allowed to fly on the mountain all get settled on a free video call before I leave Rome.
